Discussing:

First things first… Smartphones today are dumb

End of Apps

Software is eating the world, but an AI agent might just digest it. Here's why: The era of conventional apps is slowly ending.

Bill Gates – a very notable builder of graphical interfaces – also believes the paradigm of computer platforms is shifting:

“In the computing industry, we talk about platforms-the technologies that apps and services are built on. Android, iOS, and Windows are all platforms. Agents will be the next platform.”

If we look at an OG personal computer, this things get pretty simple to look at:

This computer was designed before AI existed, but what if it wasn’t?

At the time, people debated over graphical user interfaces (GUIs) versus character mode interfaces (text-based CLIs.)

But what if LLM‘s existed at the time? Why don’t we design a computer that could actually understand our natural language? One that actually said hello?

The world we have adopted today of graphical user interfaces that brought rise to traditional websites, apps, Etc., was because progress in computers has lead us to a path dependent outcome.

To start from scratch – or rethink our computers and Internet from first principles – I think it makes sense to rethink not only the computer had a fundamental level (like open interpreter is doing), but also the Internet on a fundamental level.
